An acute care hospital in the Tampa Bay area, Florida is hiring a Medical Technologist. This is a placement managed by Lela Boom Consulting Group.
About the role
Working under the direction of a laboratory supervisor, manager, or director, this position performs stat and routine clinical laboratory testing across multiple technical discipline areas. The Medical Technologist maintains competency and regulatory scheduling in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology, applying theoretical concepts of laboratory medicine with independent judgment to ensure timely and accurate results. The role also encompasses non-technical responsibilities such as specimen collection, processing, and referral testing, and requires comfort working independently while covering all areas of the lab.
What you need
- Nationally recognized certification as a medical technologist, ASCP preferred
- Florida State Licensure as a MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST is required in all areas of Lab preferred, at least 3 areas of the lab is required
- Associates' Degree in medical technology with formal medical technology training. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Technologist in a hospital laboratory is preferred. Blood Bank experience is preferred.
- Must be comfortable working alone and covering all areas of lab
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
Schedule
Full-time nights and evenings with rotating weekends.
Pay and benefits
$27.09 - $37.92/hr
