Fake job offers target nurses and other healthcare workers, especially those hoping to move abroad. Here are the warning signs and how to protect yourself.
Warning signs
- You are asked to pay for a job offer, a visa, "processing", training or a medical check before you are hired.
- The offer arrives without an interview, or after a short chat on a messaging app.
- The salary is far above the ranges you see for similar roles.
- Emails come from free email addresses rather than the recruiter's company domain.
- You are pressured to decide or pay quickly.
How to check a recruiter
- Lela Boom recruiters email you from an @lelaboom.com address.
- We never charge a recruitment fee, and we never ask you to pay us for a job offer or a visa.
- We share the hiring organisation's details with you before you are put forward, and you can verify the hospital independently.
- If you are unsure whether a message is from us, email careers@lelaboom.com.
